Poetic Bloomings- PUN-KU

Every week they offer us new ideas in poetry form.. this week  we are introduced to a new poetic form, which is called the PUN-KU. Here are the requirements for writing one.

(1) Unlike the haiku that allows for a less than strict adherence to the 17-syllable rule, the pun-ku must be exactly 17 syllables long.
(2) It contains only four (4) lines arranged syllabically as follows:
Line 1: 4 syllables Line 2: 5 syllables Line 3: 4 syllables Line 4: 4 syllables
(3) As for the end-rhyme pattern, Lines 1 and 2 do not rhyme. Lines 3 and 4 do.
(4) The pun-ku must contain a pun on one or more of the words used in the poem. The subject matter deals with human nature, is light, humorous, or witty.
(5) The title of the pun-ku can only be one- or two-words long (or short).

My Pun-ku follows...

these might sound easy.. it's rather hard to work a pun into a limited word poem.. or maybe It will get easier as I write more.. I definitely plan to write more.. in fact I have a page full..  that well to say the least..  they aren't that good.. but they are a start..

Lily's Friday Prediction-

Fibre- wretch- sip

Ransomed

The empty hummingbird feeder  in the basement's darkest corner..  annoyed her.. The ancient Chinese checker board with only seven marbles..  was even worse.. It lay on the table as if it's players had just this minute vanished.. and would shortly return to challenge her to a game.. Though every fibre of her being screamed escape..  She could only sip water and stare at the silly marbles.. She  knew she  looked a wretch.. deciding to draft a list.. she searched for a pen and paper..  If she was to be ransomed she would have  a comb and all of her marbles..

Thursday Tales   {photo by Starling Photography}

Duty Calls

Logan bowed his head as the tolling began.. The withered priest tugged the ropes.. ringing the mission bell over and over.. echoing despair across the valley.. They had found her along the tracks.. another soul devoured.. Records would show her to be the seventy seventh victim but he knew the number was much higher..

Sliding his treasure box back into the hearth's secret and replacing the bricks.. he picked up his badge and holstered his revolver.. He would have liked a nap.. but patting his belly.. he headed for the door.. Sometimes you had to make sacrifices when duty called..

Ready For Autumn..

" By all these lovely tokens September days are here, With summer's best of weather And autumn's best of cheer. " ~  Helen Hunt Jackson

==========
Up Date~ since no one commented or guessed on the "What is it"  shown below.. I will not be revealing what it is at this time.. I will leave it here in case a late visitor might want to guess. it really is an easy thing to guess.. I can't believe that some red neck country boy  didn't know in an instant what it was.. or maybe I haven't had a red neck visitor..?.. In any case I will be leaving it and if no one guesses I will eventually use it again.. Maybe some of you might want to take a second look now and see if you know what it is..  Have a great Night!...

What Is IT?

Dave and I came across this the other day and I wondered how many people might have seen this before and would recognise it.. Do you know what this strange item is? Dave and I thought we knew what it was and what it was for and how it worked.. we were wrong..But I am still willing to bet that at least one person out there might know what this picture is..  That person Might even be you.. so give it a try and comment with your guess.. You might be a winner if you are the first to answer correctly..

As always I will up-date tomorrow  with a photo of what this item really is..

A Dark Flash~

"A poet is a nightingale, who sits in darkness and sings to cheer its own solitude with sweet sounds. "

 ~  Percy Bysshe Shelley

<><><><>

Just the other day while stumbling around on the world wide web I fell over a website called
"Lily Child's Feardom" and her Friday Challenge of writing Flash Fiction from a gift of words.. the Rules were simple enough... use one hundred or less words and use all three of the words given..
The gifted words for this weeks Lily's Friday Prediction were...  Pharaoh... Fair.. and Sweep

Though dark flash fiction is not something I have done before.. I decided to give it a try.. I am always wiling to try new things in writing..

The Plague

Looking out over the valley of kings... the young Pharaoh's eyes crawled across the throngs of workers below.... His man walked slowly through the pitiful horde of human flesh...stopping here and there near a fair maid that he thought might tempt his master.... Finally arriving at a feisty young minx.. threatening ruffians with a sweep of her broom..

With one slight nod, her fate was sealed...

Watching her wrestle with his man.. sweet shivers crept along his spine..exciting his spirit... Anticipation rising.. he headed for his chambers.. The night would be long.. and he so enjoyed a fighter...
