Wednesday.. Hot and Dry.. With Words.. and A splash of Color...

"Beware the ends of the earth and the exotic: the drama is on your doorstep wherever the slums; are, wherever there is malnutrition, wherever there is exploitation and cruelty." ~ John Grierson

"But a city is more than a place in space, it is a drama in time."
~ Patrick Geddes

"But a true diva has dismissed that drama. A true diva's heart is open, and she's ready to play by her own rules - rules that are gentle and kind."
~ Jenifer Lewis

Weekday Photos- Creative editing #1- Color Splash..

~ Never having tried this before and not having photo-shop.. or any other good photo editing program.. on this computer.. I still decided to give this a try.. I first used windows to turn this photo into black and white and then with the paint program I added a few splashes of color.. I am pretty sure that this is not the way it is normally done but I was well satisfied with the way my photo turned out..

A Thousand Words ~

~ Behind the Blue Door....
~ Her pack weighing heavy on her skinny back... Abigail found herself once again standing in front of the blue door.. Fourteen days.. five hours and 17 minutes ago.. give or take a few seconds.. she had been sitting in the last booth on the right in the library reading lab.. when a laugh had tickled her ear... turning at the familiar sound.. she had been surprised and frightened to look into a face that exactly matched her own.. and now here she stood.. her heart pounding.. once again in front of the blue door that she had followed herself too that rainy Friday morning... again and again she had come here to stand and wonder.. was she stark raving mad?
Thinking that this whole seeing herself thing had to be an elaborate joke she had went straight to Leroy.. she had used every bit of leverage she had with him.. he was the best source of gossip on campus.. if anyone knew who would pull such a prank on her it was him.. But Leroy had denied any prank.. he had called in every favor owed to him trying to pacify her.. she knew he really thought she was crazy.. Standing here now she was beginning to wonder if this was her mind's remedy for her grief.. a way for her to feel less alone.. But even as that thought crossed her troubled mind.. she knew it wasn't so.. she had felt pure evil that morning as she tried to catch up to her other self.. she had ran and desperately called after the girl until they had ended right here.. where she had come up against the blue door just as it had slammed in her face...
Adjusting her pack.. a weary Abigail plopped heavily on the top step.. did she have a twin that she hadn't know about.. would her parents have lied about that.. and why would they.. the nearly perfect parents.. give away one girl and keep one.. she knew they had always wanted other children.. they had been talking about adoption when their car was t-boned by that crazy drunk driver that had shown no remorse at leaving her an orphan.. head down Abigail was nearly asleep when she heard the door behind her opening...
Leaping to her feet she wheeled around and faced the girl standing in the doorway.. one hand resting easily on the bright blue door.. the young doppelganger met her eye to eye.. and then with a chilling smile.. Abigail winked..
"Oh my God".. she mumbled as she ran down the street... back pack pounding against her lower back and hips.. and then striking the backs of her knees as she cast it aside.. I must be loosing my mind.. "who would do this to me".. she wondered as she ran.. stumbling.. down the crowded sidewalk.. She knew her other self was right behind her.. smiling and reaching out with her pale hand.. One little boy laughed and pointed as she was tripped and tumbled head over heels into the street.. somewhere a horn honked as she fell.. biting through her bottom lip... tires squealed .. the smell of burning rubber filling her nostrils as her head struck the pavement... Never hearing the loud thump.. she stepped into the perfect.. white.. silence as everyone turned to see what had happened..
Hefting the backpack into place on her skinny back.. Abigail turned away from the street as the crowd surged forward... everyone wanting to see what was happening.. Sirens screaming from far away... An elderly cab driver with a white cloth wrapped around his head .. gesturing and wringing his hands.... tears running across his wrinkled cheeks...
~ Quickly dodging in and out of the on-lookers she worked her way.. with a smile.. down the crowded sidewalk.. toward the library.. Never once looking back.. she hurried past the bright blue door...
