Why Does Everyone Hate Mondays? I Love a Good Monday!

"Around mid-life everyone goes maniac a little bit."
~ Tom Berenger

"But for my faith in God, I should have been a raving maniac."
~ Mohandas Gandhi

Manic Monday ~ #222

Imagine you can only keep 5 things that you have (people not included). What 5 things would you keep? ~ OK First off i can't EVEN imagine that!.. that is crazy.. you obviously have never seen my stuff...I have way too much stuff to just choose five but I will try.. five things huh.. OK lets see..

1~ I need my computer.. I'm hoping the three major parts count as one thing.. you know "COMPUTER= monitor+tower+Keyboard..".. If not then I'll take the laptop.. I know it's just one thing..
2~My biggest pot.. I hope y'all know I can cook up some mean stuff in just one pot.. but I want a big one.. not any tiny fondue sized pot for me..
3~ my biggest basket of crochet thread.. ( trying to sneak this one off as just one too.. I didn't see any reason to mention that hidden down in there is at least one doll and all my hooks and scissors..) Once the lid is on and it's hefted onto my back it is just ONE basket..
4~my hairbrush.. I have to brush this mess a few times a day.. I ain't about to comb it with a fish bone or nothing else..
5~ My backpack.. wait now don't look in there.. it's just a backpack..

~ see I know me.. I could get a lot of stuff in five things... but I know that wasn't what you asked so here I go being silly.. when what you wanted was this..

~Laptop.. brush.. Biggest pot.. Notebook of paper.. one doll..

What's the hardest thing you've ever had to learn?~ when to talk and when to listen.. I still haven't figured this one out right.. and being me.. I may never get it right..

Today is the first day of the rest of my life and I'm going to... enjoy it if it kills YOU!! .. I am going to spend time with my family and feed animals and crochet and WRITE!! .. and I am going to be grateful for all things good..

- My House-mates.. Cooper and Dave..

As days go this one was pretty good in spite of it being one of the most dreaded.. hated.. dastardly.. days known as Mondays.. I never understood that.. I always went to work on Monday refreshed and ready.. willing and able to have a good week.. by Wednesday I was bored with the routine and ready for the weekend.. Mondays now means a few extra hours with either/or Dave and Cooper.. I say that like they actually spend time doing stuff with me.. we all know they don't .. they have their own pursuits.. Dave has stuff to do in the barn and for people who need stuff welded or fixed or maybe just looked at..

Cooper has sleep to catch up on and boards to ride and games to play and friends to see about a dog.. or maybe it was a cat.. but you know what I mean.. I still like Mondays though.. Dave is home a little longer and he doesn't sleep half the day away.. we usually go to town on Monday and even if it's just to pay bills it gives me a push to leave the property.. I walk all over at least three times a day and that adds up to quiet a distance but even with the long walks I am always at home.. seven acres is quiet a long walk when you go around the edge of it thirty times a day with dogs dragging you.. sniffing and panting..

I could leave.. but I don't need to leave.. so I stay.. I do go to poetry club meetings once a month.. on MONDAY.. so see Monday has a lot going for it.. I grocery shop on Mondays with my camera in hand.. I finally took pity on the produce manager at my favorite store and explained why I was making a photo of his squash.. he even helped me look for something blue for my other blog.. Like I said all in all today was an alright day.. I am glad you took a few minutes to stop by my world today.. I hope you enjoyed your stop.. maybe you even laughed.. I welcome comments.. Have a great day!

Monday With Rain and Yellow School Buses...

"Luck is not chance, it's toil; fortune's expensive smile is earned."
- Emily Dickinson

"The theory seems to be that so long as a man is a failure he is one of God's chillun, but that as soon as he has any luck he owes it to the Devil."
- Henry Louis Mencken

"Fortune, seeing that she could not make fools wise, has made them lucky."
- Michel De Montaigne

Moody Monday ~ Peckish...

peck·ish (pksh)
adj.
1. Ill-tempered; irritable.
2. Somewhat hungry.
[From peck, to eat.]

"I was Feeling a Little Peckish..."
a slice would be nice.. a cupcake grand.. but I had soup straight from the can...
8 -16-2010
.. I really was feeling a little Peckish earlier
.. I was aggravated and irritated.. all around ill-tempered.. I was also hungry.. what to cook
just me here after all.. No need to wash pots.. so I cooked up this American Sentence Poem
and a can of my favorite vegetable soup.. I feel better already!!! In fact I feel well enough to write one more...

"Feeding Time Gone a Fowl"
Seeing that the hens felt a little peckish... I tossed them handfuls of feed.

Manic Monday #218

What are 5 things you want to do in your life?~ Wow.. do I only get to do five things.. I might have already gone over the limit.. I have done a lot of pretty interesting stuff already.. I have helped raise some kids.. Mine and his and theirs and hers and his..and maybe even yours... and they all turned out pretty good... But maybe you meant from now on.. five things.. I guess they should be important things too huh?? Nothing boring like finishing the book I left in the bathroom...?

1- write something others will enjoy reading... and publish it as a book... can't you imagine me prancing into the library to check out my own book..?
2- live so that others will miss me when I'm gone..
3- grow old but not feeble..
4- walk on the great wall of china... (or maybe when I am old and feeble.. my kids can stack up some blocks and fool me...)
5- see all of my children settled and happy.. and do my best to part of the solution and not part of the problem... This does require some tongue biting on my part.. I'll be stuttering any time now..

What are you saying goodbye to? ~ I have said goodbye to many things and many people over the years.. I am getting too old for the drama.. I am not interested in being the center of any ones attention and it is rather tiring that some folks need to be the most important all the time.. I would say goodbye to fancy clothes to but I don't own any.. I am saying goodbye to anger.. it doesn't hurt them.. forget it let it go.. they will reap what they sow.. as Daddy used to say.. "all in good time!"

What are you currently fascinated with? ~ I have got to tell you that I am not easily fascinated.. I am fascinated by words and rhymes and rhythms.. I am fascinated by the humming birds that hatched in my yard this year.. I am almost fascinated by Bonnie's belly.. which is about to drag the ground.. and I know I will be temporarily fascinated by the puppies.. Dave can still fascinate me as can each of my children in their own way.. I am also fascinated with Macro Photography and Geo-Caching... both involve looking close.. and both are new hobbies of mine.. I will always be fascinated by dreams and dolls and the waves striking the shore... simple things..

Back to School Ramble~

Today was the first day of the school year for our little town.. the buses we saw this morning were carrying children to be educated and not the summer's migrant workers to the fields.. All over town there were young Moms silently.. ( well for the most part silently..) wiping tears as they fought the crowds on the way out of the school yard.. some hurrying to work as others went home to an empty house and wondered what they would do all day.. Even Emily came by here.. about to cry after taking Kirstin to school.. I laughed at them.. in a few weeks you will wonder aloud how you ever stood the little heathens.. week-ends they will make you will wish they were in school.. they are going to learn all of the terrible things that you have tried to protect them from.. they will learn words you do not understand... they will learn to read their own stories and they will learn to add up their own allowance.. and they will have the audacity to enjoy being away from you.. so I say start right away and use this time for your own self.. read a book.. clean your room.. clean their room.. dry your eyes and go get busy doing something that you have put off because the kids wouldn't enjoy it or maybe it was too exciting for a small child..
They will thrive and you will survive.. be proud.. you have just accomplished another step in the grand circle of life... Please keep a close eye out for the little ones that may be waiting on buses or walking along the roadways.. Be safe! Thanks for stopping by my blog tonight.. I welcome comments.. Have a great night!

It's Just Another Manic Monday!

"Write what should not be forgotten." ~ Isabel Allende

"I do the very best I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out all right, what's said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right would make no difference." Abraham Lincoln

"Easy reading is damn hard writing." ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne

Manic Monday #216

What are your 10 greatest joys in life?
1~ Dave.. my beloved.. husband.. listener.. friend.. you get the picture..
2~ Kids.. his mine and theirs.. aah what joy in theirs..
3~ My Mom.. we love to go out together sometimes.. we joke about her boyfriends.. she misses my Daddy so much.. I love you Mama..
4~ My siblings.. they are all so special.. each one different.. I can't imagine life without them..
I love them every one..
5~ my writing.. relaxing and frustrating and crazy sometimes.. I love it..
6~ Photography.. I love looking at new things in a new way..
7~ my animals.. from the crow of a rooster to the oink of a fat hog.,, I enjoy them all..
8~ My friends.. lucky enough to have a few close friends I feel blessed by them and their love...
I have many acquaintances but only a few close friends.. I love you guys..
9~ Myself.. am I allowed to be joyous with myself? I am happy with who I am and at peace with my life..
10~ Dave.. yes I know I said him already.. I am doubly blessed to have him in my life... not too many men could put up with me.. some days I don't even want to put up with me myself.. so he gets a double dose of praise.. besides he builds the very best chicken Cages... and he doesn't laugh when I say we go swimming in the middle of the night..

I'll never do _______ again and here's why: There are so many stories I could stick in here.. some of them are way too much to tell and would have my children quoting Mr. Brown with the whole hurl thing.. so I'll just say I'll never pick up a snake again and leave it at that.. and the why is because I hate that the poor snake died after biting me.. I'll also never run a race again or dance naked again or rob a bank again.. oh wait... I didn't do those yet... ;~}

What's the coolest piece of technology you work or play with?~ I am not big on the latest technology.. I love my computer for blogging and writing and maybe a few games.. but I am technology ignorant beyond that.. I don't even know how to turn my phone camera on.. I am pretty smart with my regular old camera though and after five years I am learning new things about my digital camera too.. It has a macro setting.. who would have thought.. I love it.. I love photos.. I used to play a few PlayStation games but was recently informed that I was out of style and that my system was obsolete..

Thanks for visiting my Blog today.. I hope you enjoyed your visit ... I hope you had a great Manic Monday!
