Happy Birthday Barbie!!
Barbie was born on this day in 1959 at the American International Toy Fair held in New York City... Ruth Handler had noticed that even though her daughter had only baby dolls.. she played with them as if they were much older.. looking for an adult doll She found Lilli.. though she was unaware that the German doll was modeled after a cartoon lady of the evening.. She convinced her husband Elliot.. to bring a similar doll to market... Mattel named the doll after Ruth and Elliot's daughter.. Barbie.. and has sold over a billion of them... a good many of them to me.. I even have a Lily doll that I was lucky enough to dig out of a box of old Barbies at a junk store.. I love to tell people that Barbie and I are the same age.. I guess though that she is actually a few months older than me.. I have many Barbies stored in boxes and cases.. I love to sew and crochet clothes for them and for the large family of dolls that has developed over the years.. Cousins.. boyfriends.. best friends... children.. furniture and even pets of Barbie are highly collectible..

Thanks for stopping by today.. I have been way under the weather today and have been in and out of bed all day.. Finally I decided to see if writing would help.. It has.. only in that I am now tired enough to maybe actually sleep.. hopefully the rain will act as a lullaby..
I welcome comments and followers..
Have a great day!
