Half Way Done for This Long Week...
" I no longer feel I'll be dead by thirty; now it's sixty. I suppose these deadlines we set for ourselves are really a way of saying we appreciate time, and want to use all of it. I'm still writing, I'm still writing poetry, I still can't explain why, and I'm still running out of time. " ~ Margaret Atwood

<~~ Update-
yes it is indeed a frog.. isn't he beautiful..
I have at least one side-kick that could

their guesses..
Keep a watchful eye for my next What is it..
What is it?- I have decided to offer another what is it game .. this one might be a tiny bit tricky..
I hope that you give it a close look and see if you can come up with a guess.. I think someone
out there will know what this it.. maybe that someone is you.. Please post a comment with your guess
of you can post if on my face-book if we are friends.. you might surprise yourself and make a great
guess.. this is something that is very common and you might have even seen one today... I know I did..

It was foolish of me to follow a stranger south of the border in search of a story ... The half-masked bandits were taking no mercy on any of us.. and though I had never expected a cake walk.. I surely didn't relish becoming just another missing American.. Straddling the scratchy back of a stubborn mule .. I fingered my secret box of matches and prayed that my children would remember me...

Thursday.. A Beautiful Day to be Outside..

Sliding... Screaming...
"Seven Shot Scotch Slurping Song"...
Sam suddenly stopped-
standing silently still
she saw seventeen
silver salamanders sashaying-
singing sailors slipped
slithering sideways southward..
"So" she shouted
seeing something silly...
"somebody saved salt specks
simple seasoning so special.."
"Silly Sam" she said
"Stop sipping sweet sarsaparilla."
"salamanders singing .. sailors saving salt..
sometimes someone should Sleep!"

Soldier's Prayer

Hold close
Your children.
Our Pains eased
By your loving touch.
Give us strength to endure.
Wisdom and courage each day.
Keep Our loved ones safe from harm.
Oh Lord, Let our Deaths be not in vain.
Lord Watch over us as the winds of war
Blow us onto paths we fear to walk alone.
We know you walk beside us every day.
Never Forsaking us as we trod.
Let us return home full of pride.
Having served Our Country.
And Our God with Honor.
Hold us safely now
within your hand.
Amen!

Storehouses busting we bring in the strays
Tilling and tending ... the work and the grime
Toiling and teamwork.. we receive Harvest time..
Intervals of hours.. of weeks and years
Miles of work.. with blood.. sweat and tears..
Every time to a season.. every season for a time

I apologize for being a missing person for more than a week.. This last week has been one of the worst I have ever known.. I struggle to understand how anyone can have so little regard for life that they would shoot and kill our friend.. she went to work like any other day.. but just before her shift ended she was shot and killed by a man who had stalked and harassed her for months.. I wonder if any of us are safe? She filed reports and did everything we are told to do to protect ourselves and yet she was murdered.. I am angry.. I am sad.. I struggle to stand up and move on.. please remember us all in your prayers as we try to find some good in the world that for us was knocked out of line last week by the act of a single killer.. I was proud of my son who will forever miss her and of my daughter.. who's first concern was that he not get the news from a stranger.. Our lives have been changed forever by a senseless act of violence.. I plan to say I love you more often and to try to be slow to anger with my family and friends.. after all we never know when our last minute may come..
Thanks for stopping by my blog today.. I will do my best to get myself together and get back to my blog.. I welcome both comments and followers.. Have a great day!

Thursday Thunks: Sneaking Out
The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of a pumpkin pie and the number 3333.
1. When you snuck out of your house for the first time, who were you meeting and why?
-- I snuck out once before I was grown up.. I wasn't meeting any one.. I was going to fetch my cigarettes that I had to hide fast when Daddy almost caught me smoking.. On the other hand I used to dress the little ones up in crazy costumes and sneak them out and around to knock on the front door and scare My dad.. or at least he pretended to be scared.. I know once he thought my tiny sister was an old lady and he told me I should never do that again..
2. Tell us about the last time that you got your heart broken. Extra points if you publish their naked photo.-- I only wish I had that photo.. My heart has been broken so much that it is nothing now but duct tape and superglue.. I quit keeping count a long time ago so.. you don't really want to know anyway..
3. Tell us about someone you know named Bob. (Yes, we know this is a stupid question. Stupid is what we do best.) -- I know a few Bob's but the first one that came to mind was an old guy who is married to my sisters Mother-in-law.. what can I say about him?... hmm.. he is a nice old guy who builds awesome radio controlled airplanes..
4. We just found the perfect retail space. We are giving you the store. What’s its name and what do you sell?-- my store would have to be called "Patsy's Plunder" and I have a lot of junk I could sell .. including handmade baby hats.. doll clothes.. tea sets.. dolls.. shot glasses and what ever other plunder I can round up.. Maybe a quilt or two from my Mom and many other crafts and goodies..
5. Tell us about your last “friend with benefits".-- My kids and Family would say I never had one of those... I am going to let them believe that!
6. Kimber worries a lot. What was the last thing that you worried about?-- I can always find something to worry about.. money.. laundry.. was my chicken any good to eat.. I think the last thing was are my puppies eating enough..
7. Do you believe “once a cheater, always a cheater”?-- Sadly I do.. and I don't like cheating of any kind.. so don't cheat me at Old Maid or I won't play with you ever again..
8. Tell us about moving out of your parent’s home. Who did you move in with?-- I got married and moved into my own home with my first husband..we stayed together a lifetime.. he was my "baby daddy" three times over.. but I don't play old maid with him any more..
9. What was your most recent regret? -- I don't do regret very well.. I try to think things through so that I don't have to regret.. I haven't had any recently..
10. Berleen recently ranted on face book about having to got to parent-teacher conferences when your child has great grades. What was the stupidest meeting that you most recently endured? -- I always hated any kind of school meeting.. most of my time now is spent at home being a hermit..
11. Do you collect anything?-- I collect poems and quotes and recipe books and just books and dolls and tea sets and shot glasses and bottles and stuff and crochet patterns and more stuff.. yea I guess I collect anything..
12. Has anyone ever told you that you were in the wrong job?-- I have been told I should be a writer and a comedian and so many other weird things..
13. Is there something that you’d like to complete before the end of 2010? -- I have some craft things going that I would like to finish.. I pretty much take life one day at the time..

And as a bonus because I didn't get to it last night...

Thursday Thunks: What's in a Name?
The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of Kimber's hair (where did she go?) and the number 333.
1. We are changing your name. You have no choice. You get to pick it, but we must approve it. You must have a good reason. OK, what is the name and reason?~ No way.. I like my name or parts of it anyway.. I already changed it a few times myself.. you can change it to .. mean old crazy lady.. if you must.. but otherwise.. Patsy suits me fine.. and after all that is a change from my real name..
2. I say Shotgun, you say?~ Run fool.. somebody is shooting at us!- that reminds me of a time when I walking the dogs and all of a sudden I heard six or seven shots and the limb fell off the tree next to me.. needless to say.. the third line of the first haiku above is how my dog walking adventure ended that night..
3. We are sending you away. Africa or Mexico? ~ am I in witness protection.. ( that might be fun.. who did I see do what.. to who.. ?)~ am I taking money with me? ... can I go see what each one looks like first?.. If I can I will.. but if not I'll go to Mexico.. I have heard that with ten dollars you can live like a king there.. and I happen to have ten dollars stashed for emergencies..
4. When you're home alone, do you still close the door when you use the restroom?~ I do because family.. as in KIDS.. have keys and they use them if I don't come to the door.. why do you care were you planning to peep?
5. Berleen told me that I have to ask a mean question. Tell us about a horrible memory.~ I remember once this mean person.. I think her name might have been Berleen.. anyway.. she tried to steal my natural identity and ship me off to Africa..or maybe it was Mexico.. she tried to confuse me by asking me a bunch of weird questions about using the bathroom and shotguns.. I shudder even now..
6. What are your plans for October? ~ I plan to make some cute jack-o-lanterns from soda bottles and light up my yard even though my neighbors think it's sinful.. I plan to rake up some leaves as they fall.. I might even blog.. I might even blog about my Jack-o-lanterns...
7. Is there anyone that you regret ever meeting ?~ No there is not.. I bet some people thought I would say there was.. but my life now is a reflection of all who have passed through it and some of them would leave great big holes if I had never met them.. so OK... maybe I regret meeting the guy that stole the towels from the hotel when I worked there.. but other than that no..
8. You have 3 months left to live, what do you do?~ I write letters to my family and friends.. I give away my dolls and some other stuff.. and I clean up this house.. then they find a cure and I live a hundred more years.. actually if I have three months to live I'd just as soon not know it.. who wants to clean house?
9. You wake up in an unfamiliar place, what is your first reaction?~ how much DID I drink?
10. Your phone rings at 4am, just before you kill this person, who do you expect it would be?~ it will be the damn sawmill.. either Dave left something on or some moron besides him left something on or they need Cooper to come to work.. and he is not answering his phone.. can you tell this happens a lot?..
11. You're having a bad day, what one thing can make your day better?~ writing usually helps..
12. You are doing a meme written by the blogosphere's shadiest character. Is there anything else that you should be doing right now? ~ I should be walking the dogs for their last time before bed.. they are waiting legs crossed and eye floating..
13. If money were not a problem.. where would you like to live? ~ Jeez you already shipped me off to Africa.. now you want ME to choose.. OK.. I choose right here.. I am at peace with-in here.. but can we buy out the neighbors and build me an ocean out back?... maybe I'll just move to an island I hear Alcatraz is empty.. or even a lighthouse that sits out in the ocean.. and sense money is no problem can I get food and drinks shipped in daily.. I'm gonna need a boat and some fancy swim wear too... snorkels and air tanks and some cute shorts for the pilots of planes flying over.. I can't look like a frump out there you know.. Dave will want the newest model of jet ski and some new fishing equipment.. I wonder if you can build a floating skateboard ramp?.. bird food will be on the list and chicken scratch too.. three floating pens should work for them.. the gardens might be a problem but hey with all the money in the world I think we can make it work.... PLEASE... get REAL.. I like it here!but I could use some money if you have any to spare...

Wednesday..Hot and Dry.. Clyde Has Growled at Nothing All day!.. Ghosts?
"I have always paid income tax. I object only when it reaches a stage when I am threatened with having nothing left for my old age - which is due to start next Tuesday or Wednesday." ~Noel Coward
"You lie awake at 3 in the morning thinking of story ideas. You're online at 8 a.m. on a Sunday or midnight on a Wednesday. It's a job that you never push aside."
~ James Daly
"Poems in a way are spells against death. They are milestones, to see where you were then from where you are now. To perpetuate your feelings, to establish them. If you have in any way touched the central heart of mankind's feelings, you'll survive."
~ Richard Eberhart

... Wordless Wednesday~

Another hot a dry day.. We have had plenty of those in a row.. they are expensive days.. you have to drink more.. and even if you don't buy bottled water you either have to pay for it or pay for the electricity to run a pump.. and of course you have to have a fan and an air conditioner.. or at least one or the other or maybe both.. yea both.. and you forgot there was a window open in the bathroom.. yes.. it's a bathroom.. gotta let smells out.. and so the cool air or even the fanned air goes out too.. it's a never ending cycle.. all of my plants want water.. I'm thinking on letting it rain here tomorrow.. set up sprinklers.. let the birds have baths.. listen to the frogs sing..
..... We are the proud parents.. (owners) of nine puppies.. they are two weeks old today.. Their parents were a gift from a friend.. I'm sure the dogs wouldn't have picked us.. but it was us or the pound.. Clyde has barked all day at nothing.. every once in a while he barks at the wall.. then tonight as we crossed the yard I saw a shadow.. actually an extra shadow.. me.. two dog shadows and hmmm.. who is the tall guy?... and then he growled.. I'd say a ghost if I believed in them.. maybe it's one getting an early start on Halloween.. but Clyde keeps growling at it even though it looks like nothing.. I think it's nothing.. Do you think it's anything?.. Maybe it's something.. No... No... I'm sure its nothing..
I hope you enjoyed your visit to my world today.. I welcome comments..
Have a wonderful day!
