Nothing-

Nothing wrong
Nothing right
Now I'm on the Nothing diet

Nothing old - nor
Nothing New
Nothing for both me and you

Nothing lost- or
Nothing found
Nothing Nothing all around

Nothing ventured
Nothing Gained
Nothing Nothing all the same

Nothing Now and
Nothing then
Nothing Nothing till the end

Blue Window Trim -

sea island natives
living reminders of trade
cotton .. rice and indigo
Gullah life is made

five benne wafers
cast into new daylight
the hudu spell is torn away
rest easy then this night

bridges came and baskets sold
the younguns moved to town
rich men came and stole our land
again to trod us down

But some have stayed to tell the tales
of how our world began
of lands and cultures far away
before a man owned a man

"And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt." ~Sylvia Plath

All Aboard- ( a haibun)

somehow we discovered that one could ride the train to the next town if you lay waiting just before the long curve.. where it slowed and the engineers view was blocked by the old pine forest.. everyone else already aboard.. my fat legs simply won't run fast enough.. I'll wait for them to return with the afternoon train..

blackberry brambles
tearing at my skin.. I cried
the train whistle blew

Breaking-

lilies of the field
held in ketchup bottles
graced scarred tables
hot coffee filled the air

waiting nameless
temples throbbing
eyes still gritty
with last nights sins

thirteen hours
or a thousand years
all the same in the spiral
no tender mercies remain

just one wish I asked
of the face in the shaker
salty eyebrows raised
his isolation mauled

his incandescent voice
thundered silently in return
"Look about foolish one
there is no Safe Place!"

Thanks for stopping by my world today.. It has been a lovely day to be outside.. though writing and chores have kept me house bound most of the day.. I have enjoyed the wonders of a new bird feeder that Dave hung right outside of my window.. so far I have seen cardinals.. finches.. robins and wrens.. We have chicks and quail hatching.. chirping away beneath their warm lights..
pleasing sights and sounds surround me.. I welcome both comments and followers..

Sanity Slivers

Sliding... Screaming...
"Seven Shot Scotch Slurping Song"...

Sam suddenly stopped-
standing silently still

she saw seventeen
silver salamanders sashaying-

singing sailors slipped
slithering sideways southward..

"So" she shouted
seeing something silly...

"somebody saved salt specks
simple seasoning so special.."

"Silly Sam" she said
"Stop sipping sweet sarsaparilla."

"salamanders singing .. sailors saving salt..
sometimes someone should Sleep!"

Carry On Tuesday #91

"Love life and life will love you back. Love people and they will love you back. "
~ Arthur Rubinstein

Love life
unpaid bills.. wars and rumors of wars..
soup kitchens.. the splash of raindrops falling..
and the laughter of children in the park.. dancing daisies
in a chain.. love life and life will love you back..
Love People
the crying baby at two am... the ten year old
with a pudgy hand on her hip.. snarling.. crying..
desperate.. Happy to be free.. twenty year old..
Grandma and the lost soul with the sign on the corner..
just waiting for a chance.. to show.. to love.. to steal.. to hurt or kill..
Love people and they will love you back... sometimes..

Today has been another wet day.. the chickens clucked their displeasure and stayed up on their roosts most of the day.. getting down only to eat a few grains of soggy scratch feed.. and waddle to the nest to leave us some eggs.. even the ducks quacked at the skies as if they had had enough rain for a few days!..The dogs whined to go out.. then barked to come right back in.. Cooper slept.. Dave braved the rain to feed all of the animals and to gather the fresh eggs.. I must admit that I was lazy today.. I did laundry.. two loads.. I shopped for food and then cooked it.. nothing fancy.. just hot dogs with the fixings.. slaw and chili and cheese.. I babysat Hannah and Dani for a few minutes while their "Nini" went on a job interview.. and I played some games on-line.. and of course I blogged..

Thanks for stopping by today.. I welcome comments and followers..
