I Hate Yedda!

"Follow the yellow brick road."
~ E. Y. Harburg

"I really just want to be warm yellow light that pours over everyone I love."
~ Conor Oberst

"Be like Curious George, start with a question and look under the yellow hat to find what's there." ~ James Collins

Today's Mommy Moments theme is yellow.. They have asked that we show something that belongs to our children or a picture of something our child would wear that would be yellow.. You have no idea how much Cooper hated yellow as a child.. he would scream and pitch a fit if I tried to put clothes on him that were yellow.. He wouldn't have a yellow blanket.. he wouldn't even play with a yellow truck.. Someone once gave him a yellow yo yo and I thought for just a minute that he might play with it.. then with a fast pitch into the woods it was gone from our lives forever... It didn't even have to really be yellow.. it could be a light green or an orange..but if it made him think of yellow it was gone.. he threw a fit when we about to get on a boat once because they only had orange life jackets.. He cried and screamed.. " I hate Yedda!!.. I hate Yedda!!" over and over.. I had to force him into one and soon after bought a blue one just for him.. I bet you are thinking that I have no pictures of Cooper in anything at all yellow... that was true until just a few weeks ago.. as much as Cooper hates yellow.. what color do you think his younger sister chose for her wedding? Yes.. she chose yellow..

I told him to just pretend that it was gold and even though he hated every second that he was wearing it he did put on the nasty yellow tie.. He wore it for only as long as the wedding lasted taking it off as soon as he possibly could.. Here he is with his beloved baby sister and the Ugly "Yedda" Tie...

Even as he escorted not just one.. but two lovely bridesmaid away from the alter you can tell that he is not really happy about the "yedda" tie! When I told him that he was almost smiling in this photo he said that he was Happy because it was almost over and he could get the yellow away from him... I don't know why he hates Yellow so much.. he had a yellow suit as a tiny baby and every time I put it on him he cried.. He would cry if you put yellow sleepers on him or a yellow crib sheet on his crib.. after a while it was just easier to use other colors for him..

I decided to look and see if I had any photo's of any of us with anything yellow on.. in all of my photo's.. (and believe me I do have tons of them).. amazingly.. I have only found one person wearing anything yellow.. You have probably guessed that the one that loved yellow was Emily..
and here she is all decked out in a yellow skirt and yellow socks for her school pictures.. what was I thinking letting her wear that? Was that the style back then? At least she matched even if it was yellow.... Oh so long ago..
I guess that the rest of us though we weren't quite as verbal about it agreed with Cooper.. Maybe each and every one of us "Hated Yedda"! Enjoy each and every Mommy Moment! Have a great day!

Emily gets Married!!

"I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach."
~Elizabeth Barrett Browning

"True love stories never have endings." ~Richard Bach

"There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage." ~Martin Luther

I know I have been missing from my blog a lot in the last few weeks.. I have been busy getting ready for the biggest day so far in my Baby girl's life..

Emily~ around 4 months old.. so sweet.. I wanted to squeeze you tight and hold you down so that you would never grow up!

At five years old you had just made a bargain with Anthony and Cooper that they had to give you a dollar if you could stay clean until time to go.. you outsmarted them by pulling your dress off and Coopers shirt on! They swore you
cheated.. You all fought about it and I would have made you kiss through the chair crack but the hotel room only had plush chairs..

Look at you holding tight to your Daddy's arm.. I wanted to yell RUN EMILY RUN!!! but in my heart I knew you were in Love.. You were a very beautiful bride!

Emily with Cooper and her siblings from other Mothers
David and Jennifer and George... we were missing two brothers and their families... I will have to ask what David said that made everyone laugh.. did I need to bring my switch to the wedding?

Emily.. Luke.. and Kirstin.. what a beautiful picture.. I love seeing the three of you together.. the three of you always seem so happy together.. rather it is at home or out shopping or even just watching TV I love the way you interact with each other.. I always hoped Emily would find a handsome prince....

and speaking of a handsome prince.. several people asked me who this guy was.. It is none other than my own handsome prince.. Dave almost looked like a stranger with a shave and a haircut..

I am Happy to have a new son and two new Grand- Daughters.. welcome to our family Luke.. Kirstin.. and Trinity..

This is where I have been.. I have been busy planning menu's and shopping for food for a wedding reception.. Chicken salad.. little smokies.. 150 devilled eggs... I made the food myself.. or at least most of it and I was told that it was delicious.. I was way to busy to eat.. when I came home all I wanted to do was crawl into bed and snuggle up and try not to cry..

I have so many wonderful memories of my children growing up.. as a single stay at home Mom for a few years I didn't miss much that my children did.. I went on school trips and always had a crowd of other children here.. some who even lived here.. I am so lucky to have shared so much of their lives.. Every day was a blessing.. I will honestly say that Emily was a beautiful bride.. I only hope that none of the other children decides to get married any time soon.. I will need to rest before I can do this again!..

I will be back on here soon with my normal posts of poems and stories and a photo or two.. Have a great Night!

Tuesday?! Ok What is it???

"Truth maybe stranger than fiction, but fiction is truer."
~ Frederic Raphael

"I write fiction because it's a way of making statements I can disown."
~ Tom Stoppard

"Fiction writing is great. You can make up almost anything."
~ Ivana Trump

"Get you facts first, and then you can distort 'em as much as you please. "
~ Mark Twain

Today's riddle is more of a why is it than a what is it. As you can see, it is a tree with a brick wall built inside of it. It is a live Oak tree. It is just one of many trees that have brick walls inside of them.
When my children first saw them they were frightened of them. Walking along you can see some that come to the ground like the ones pictured here and others that might be way up high in a tree. They really are a little scary to see being that they are all in the cemetery of some very old Church ruins. It also doesn't help that vandals tried to open all the above ground vaults many years ago and damaged most of them. So to be walking around and spot these trees near Vaults with tilted and broken tops is indeed the stuff you might expect to see in an old Horror film or read about in a murder in the dark mystery book. Cooper and his Friend even knocked and called out is anybody home on one of our stops there. We Love this place.. We have to pass it on our way to the beach. It's a good spot to stop and stretch your legs for a minute and maybe have a cool drink from the hand pump. I have been going there ever since I was a child. My children have been going there for a long time too. Dave doesn't mind stopping there for a few minutes and even agreed to stand by the tree for me but he really isn't interested in being anywhere near this place at night he says..

I would have loved to have seen this Church in her early years. Even as Ruins it is a peaceful and touching place. There are many rumors of ghosts here. I haven't seen one that I was certain was a ghost. I did see what I thought was a Mennonite woman there a few years ago standing by a child's grave. She appeared to be doing the same thing I was and just reading the headstones. She stood there a long time with her head down and I honestly thought she was saying a prayer. It was only after she walked through the gate and was gone that I remembered that there were no cars parked outside the gate. I hurried to the gate and peered up and down the long road.. Nothing!!! She was gone!! One of the ghost stories goes that a young woman is often seen at the grave of her child.. She will leave through the gate and disappear. She is also supposed to wear a brown dress. I can't for the life of me remember rather the Woman I saw was wearing brown or some other dreary drab color. Was she a ghost? I would like to say YES!! but I can't swear it was a ghost. It could have been a fast walking in an ugly long dress Mennonite woman who had a car hidden somewhere outside the gate..... Spooky Huh?!

These pictures were made at a place called Old Sheldon Church! It is the ruins of a Church that was first burned during the revolutionary War and then burned again By Sherman on his Trek to the sea. The walls refused to fall and to this day still stand. Many people choose this spot for weddings and other celebration and it isn't rare to ride by and see people picnicking here.

Today's questions is not what it is; it isn't where is it either. Today's question if you would like to offer a guess is Why are these trees bricked up? What purpose does it serve to have bricks laid in the hollow of a tree? Does anyone know? Do you think there are boogies bricked up inside these trees? Did someone with a stack of bricks and some spare time just get bored? I'd like to hear your response to these questions.. Tell me what you think.. Cooper and Emily used to think there were boogies bricked up there . I'm pretty sure their older brother told them that. I'm also almost sure that I might have told Anthony that so I guess it's all my fault.. I have actually looked into the reasons for there being bricks in the trees. There are a couple of reasons in fact. Do you have any idea why this was done? would you like to make a guess? Please leave me a comment with your answer. And I will leave a comment tomorrow with the reasons I was able to find! Who knows; Maybe there really are boogies bricked up in those trees! Have a great day!
